Currency

Uzbekistan's currency is the Uzbek soum. Cards are widely useful in larger hotels, restaurants, supermarkets, and railway or airline services, but cash remains important for bazaars, taxis, small cafes, craft workshops, and rural stops.

Exchange money through banks, hotel desks, or licensed exchange points, and keep some smaller notes for everyday payments. ATMs are common in major cities, but availability can be less predictable outside the main route.
